July 2016. 'Furthest East' - Longitude 1°45"E - Lowestoft Ness, Suffolk

In 2016, I went East, to Lowestoft Ness. I went with a friend Eric Hooper, who has accompanied me on other 'extremes' trips. I made the journey to complete the set of going to all four 'extreme points' of Great Britain.

However, Lowestoft Ness is by far the least interesting and least picturesque of the locations for the extreme points. Access to the Ness is via 'Gas Works Road'. The clue is in the name. The area is rather industrial. At Ness Point, there is a large circular marker on the seafront walk, which marks the easternmost point, and givves directions and distances to many locations, some as far as Moscow.

The location did not justify a long stay. So, after taking photos and retrieving a small stone from the seafront, we were on our way back. We had been at the easternmost point for less than one hour.
