In August 2013 I drove to Spurn Head. Spurn Head in East Yorkshire is a long and narrow spit of land which projects out into the Humber Estuary. It is accessed by a road from the village of Easington, through Kilnsea. The road is quite narrow and unmade in parts.

To my surprise, when getting to the start of the narrow section, there was someone waiting to charge me £4 to go further!

The first part is narrowest, only yards wide in places. The North Sea to the left, the River Humber to the right.

At the far end by the lighthouse there is a car park. Here I got out of the car to walk round the southern tip of Spurn head. Keeping an eye on the tide of course, I set off to take a few photos. GPS data (above) shows when I was right at the end.

I was a little disappointed to find that all the way round there was piles of litter washed up to the high tide mark. This made things a bit unsightly I thought.
